MADARR AND THE KINDHEARTED’s newest track presents the band’s unique combination of reflective lyrics and captivating soulful bluesy melodies, taking listeners on a heartwarming musical journey.
“Reflection” explores the themes of self-awareness, responsibility, and the quest for meaning. The lyrics illustrate the challenges and victories of self-reflection, encouraging listeners to recognize how love and understanding can help overcome life’s obstacles.
This is emphasized at the beginning of the song when you hear Duane belt out:
“Take it truly, take it truly on yourself / there is meaning it doesn’t have to be /all the time now we spent wondering/ where we went wrong / there’s a mile-long list of excuses coming on strong.”
The creation of the album was a labour of love for MADARR AND THE KINDHEARTED, led by Duane Rancourt. With John Burton on keyboards and Geordie Bolton on drums, they brought a unique chemistry to the songs on Love Won. Their collaboration revitalized tracks that Duane had been developing for over a decade, resulting in a high-spirited and energetic collection of music.
“The album took the simple naked songs I had been singing for years and brought them to a colourful life”, Duane explains. “I think what made this album so good is the chemistry among the three of us and me refining my chemistry within myself. I had to sync my bass-playing with the guitars like I had never done before, and Geordie kept me at a great pace while John gave my songs a classical colour.”
